The latest contest or giveaway is being held by Brian of Echo1USA for a custom built MTC3. The MTC series is a unique rifle that is using a version 3 gearbox and parts but using the M4 magwell giving the user the best gearbox and magazine options on the market. Brian has taken the next step to build a rifle of the MTC3 with several other parts from the boneyard to make one lucky fan. Over the course of a few weeks while he gets to the goal of 10,000 Instagram fans he will be building the rifle on the inside too. The target FPS will be 500 with a .20g BB. All the parts and effort will be shown here in the blog and in his Echo1 Tech Support video.
To win this custom rifle well worth over $500 you just need to follow BRIAN_at_ECHO1 on Instagram and might as well Like his FaceBook page too. Once the goal of 10,000 fans is met he will post the ‘how to’ win instructions on how to win the MTC3. No purchase is necessary, just be a supporter and you are entered to win it. Make sure you tell your friends as well.
Check out the status of the build here below as it is worked on and build over the weeks.
Today I went through the warehouse and started picking parts I want to put into the MTC3 to make it a great rifle I would want to use myself. I will be using the Modify compression parts since they are the best on the market. I will be mixing the parts to get more air than the standard cylinder set. Using a full cylinder and not a ported cylinder to get maximum air when using a 445mm MadBull barrel. We practice the same concept in our Knight’s SR16 with a short barrel and a full cylinder to send those BBs flying for days as most people report and enjoy.
For the gearbox I will keep the standard Version 3 shell that is a 8mm option. I am going by the classic motto of KISS; Keep It Simple Stupid. I will keep the the parts that are good and no need to spend more money replacing the parts just because. The Steel bearing spring guide that is stock in most of our rifles is a great part and no need to swap it out with an aftermarket unit which would be the same but only a different color. The piston is the Modify Ultra Piston and is my favorite. I have several of these in my other builds that have lasted years with heavy use. I have corrected the AoE on the piston with a spacer so I retain all the air volume. The piston and gear mesh is just about perfect of 98% and the second tooth was hand filed to be removed and the third tooth has been partially removed as well. The gears I am using are the Echo1 Gearset Torque that are 18:1 ratio for a snappy trigger response a a durable choice.
Since I am treating this like my own rifle I want to make it cool so I have installed the SPEED Airsoft straight trigger. This will give the MTC3 a little shorter trigger pull and a sweet custom look. The bearings and bushings in the MTC3 will be custom by not being a uniform set like most factory builds. I am using 8mm steel ball bearings for the Bevel and Sector gears and a solid steel bushing on the Spur gear which takes more force in the gear train. This setup will give me a higher ROF while being durable and when combined with the torque motor and lipo the trigger response will be really good.
This is a cool trick I use. The Modify Version 7 anti reversal latch for the M14 is being used in the V3 shell. I drilled out the axle hole to make it fit. The reason being is that the longer axle will have more surface area and support on the pot metal gearbox which is just a molded collar and will break from high spring rates. With the axle going through it makes it stronger and the flat head tool release option which is on all Modify latches makes it much easier than the old hook technique to release the bevel gear.
The anti reversal latches as shown;(left to right)stock V2/3 latch, stock v7 latch and the Modify v7 latch. As you can see the original latch is much shorter and the drilling is needed. The stock v7 latch did start to bend from the M150 spring. The new upgraded Modify latch made with better steel will be just fine.
Now that the gearbox seems to be just about completed I will will shoot and test it and see if anything fails while I break in the spring and have it settle to a nice 500 fps with a .20. Using the deans plug on the rifle to make this complete for a lucky fan.
Stay turned to my Instagram BRIAN_at_ECHO1 for more updates on the parts and things I’m doing for the build.
Those are the parts currently in the MTC3 giveaway rifle and this is a sweet setup for a lucky fan. To build this yourself or have a store do it for you will cost around $600 but this rifle is being given away for FREE to a lucky fan once @Brian_at_echo1 gets to the 10,000 fan mark!
For the final test of the parts and FPS the results are still amazing with very little FPS loss from the spring settling but after some more shooting it should be right at 500 FPS with a .20 gram BB. The ROF of Rate of Fire is around 17 BB per second on full auto which is a beast but might be too much. It will be easy to modify the rifle to make it Semi-Auto only if the winner wants that and that will be more field legal but up to them.
The Rifle is built and now just waiting for a new owner once the Instagram goal is reached of 10,000 fans. I will try to hurry and get a Echo1 Tech Support video put together to better show the gearbox and parts of this rifle.
